Hungry

January 11th, 2006 at 04:44 am

I didn't want to eat all day long, I wasn't hungry at all. So I started forcing myself to eat so I could at least hit 1200 calories today and now I'm starving. But nothing sounds good at all. Except chocolate, toast and jam, etc. All things not allowed on my diet.

We walked to the grocery store today. I think it's a mile round trip. Not a long walk, so I'm not going to get my hour of exercise today. I just can't bring myself to do yoga or dance right now.

DH bought me 4 new pairs of yoga pants today. I got some for xmas (2 pair) and I've been washing them so that I could wear them every day (after I change from work). I love these pants. They're long enough to actually reach my feet and they cling without looking clingy - no panty lines. He also bought a bunch of veggies. We just walked to the grocery for milk, cream cheese and yogurt. I'm so ready for phase II and some smoothies for breakfast. I may just scream if I have to eat any more eggs for breakfast.

I know what you mean! After a first week of eggs, I'm not able to look at any this week (cottage cheese and plain yogurt this week.) And I am missing fruit so much right now. I'm sure you had success through this first phase so far - keep your mind on that. You can do it!! (I've not tried this diet before - doesn't it work great though? My brother started in Sep and had lost 50 lbs by Christmas. I started Jan 1 - cliche I know, but I was truly sick of any and all carbs by that point in the holidays. I've lost 9 lbs as of last Sun.) Good luck to you!!!

Little Gopher, I don't have a scale, but my clothes don't feel any looser. So it's frustrating. But, I remember that I didn't lose much at all in Phase I last time, but the weight just started melting off in phase II and I couldn't get it to stop in phase III. Plus, while I'm heavier than I want to be, my clothes from my thinnest point do fit for the most part (the jeans are tighter, but I can still get into them without any real effort).

Even with my first week's loss, I'm not feeling it clothes-wise yet, which is different than when I've lost the first few weeks worth of weight through Weight Watchers in the past. So the weight must be coming off differently this time. And I know, it's probably mostly water weight at first, but with what I need to lose, I will take it coming off any way it comes!

How long do you do Phase I? It seems everyone does it for different lengths of time. I was thinking of trying for 4 weeks, if I can hold out on those good carbs.

Anyway, look at you being successful with the program already! You know it works, and I bet you'll get to Phase II and repeat your great success. (And being able to wear your thin clothes is a very big yay!) You can do it!!

LG - I did it for 10 days this time. Last time I did it for 12 days. Of course, I'm not in a full phase II yet, I've just added enough fruit to have smoothies for breakfast (and I'm breaking the rule a little and having a banana in my smoothie).

I'm pretty sure the book says not to do it longer than 2 weeks (I could be wrong). It's really only supposed to break you of your sugar cravings. What it does is make everything else taste a lot sweeter. I had some semi-sweet choco chips last night, they tasted like milk chocolate and almost too sweet. So tonight I moved to the 60% cocoa choco chips (bittersweet chocolate?). Much better - tasted like regular semi-sweet chocolate.

I am a bit late with my comment here...I have gotten very behind on my journal readings!

I also am doing South Beach - have been fluctuating between Phases II, III, and all-out gluttony while on vacation. But I can totally understand what you mean about the eggs! I had to stop Phase I a few days early because I just could not do it anymore. Even now I have Kashi cereal most days - have not been wanting eggs at all!
Here's a good recipe that I found online (it was listed as a SB recipe, although it was not in any of the SB cookbooks). It's extremely good at satisfying a chocolate craving.
No sugar added fudge pop, melted slightly in microwave (10-15 seconds)
1 Tb natural peanut butter, 1 Tb fat free Cool Whip (original recipe called for 2 Tb of each, but I found that to be too much)
Scrape the fudgesicle off the stick and mix together with the peanut butter and Cool Whip. My SIL even poured this into a nut crust to make a frozen pie, although it did not set up well. So good! I think I might go make one now...anyway, good luck with the diet. DH and I have lost about 30 pounds and 3 sizes combined. I can't tell you how good it makes me feel when people are telling me I look great!
