Made another necklace

February 16th, 2006 at 06:30 am

I wore the first set to work and my friend thought they were nice, but I was too chicken to ask if she would consider selling them in her shop.

I realized that they'd make great eye glass chains, so that may be another avenue to explore.

I made a necklace between last night and tonight. I think I'm getting quicker at it. I really like this one, the other one is okay, but this one is much nicer.

I'll find a market yet. If I get busy with growing greens and veggies, I could sell this at the farmers' market with my greens.

What is a good price for a wire necklace and earring set? I probably have less than 50 cents in materials (cheap beads, but they don't look so cheap), but 2-3 hours.

Oh well, I have time to think about it.

Keep up the good work. My friend at work makes chains for name tags to sell in order to raise $ for her mother's medical bills. Once you find your niche, I bet you'll have a hard time keeping up. I think anywhere form $15-20 depending on how nice they look would be reasonable for a pair. You can always have a jewelry party to sell them. I love going to those.

My mom makes jewlery (she does bead weaving) and sells quite a bit of it-but not in a store. Folks from her work either buy it off her body or order things to be made. She didn't set out to sell it, people just admired it and she let them know, "well, I sell them too-I can even make them to order" and left it at that. Then if folks are interested they could ask.

She said the rule of thumb for selling jewlery is you take the cost of your materials, then you double it, then you double that. So if it is $10 of materials you'd charge $40.

Another thing that I thought she should make and offer to sell is those ID card chains-like this
